Important announcement
After significant lobbying of government, Essex County Council has received clarification from the GO-East Office that we will receive the full Youth Opportunity Fund allocation for 2010/11, but only 50% of the expected 2010/11 Youth Capital Fund allocation. Whilst less than the amount we would have wished, this amount is enough to cover the full amount of ALL projects that we have already agreed to award. Therefore, all Youth Opportunity Fund and Youth Capital Fund projects that have had their funding delayed should shortly be receiving their funds.
Due to the reduction made by the government in Youth Capital Fund, it is very unlikely the Council will be able to make available further grants through a second round of awards, which may in turn impact some organisations that were anticipating application for these funds. In the current funding climate this is unavoidable.
Please accept our apologies for the delay in releasing funds. We fully appreciate the frustration and concern this has caused. We are thrilled projects can now go ahead as we recognise the positive impact these projects have on the young people in Essex.
