Where to start
Revision is an important part of preparing for exams and reminding yourself of the skills and knowledge that you have learnt. It is important that you make yourself a revision plan which sets aside time for revision but not forgetting to incorporate breaks and leisure time. You can print out some revision templates from the following websites:
- http://www.risingstars-uk.com/uploads/publications/140.pdf
What you can do
- Find a quiet place to study; if you can’t find somewhere free from distractions at home try your local library.
- Make revision notes. Notes are good reminders of important facts or information.
- When revising it is important you have regular breaks, but not too many!
- Eat and sleep well, revising late into the night before an exam is not a good way to keep yourself refreshed.
Friends
Don't forget your friends; if there are lots of you studying or revising why not get together and talk about what you are working on. Talking with your mates is also a good way to get rid of revision tension and have a break.
Revision clubs
Your school or college may offer revision clubs, where you can go to revise and get further support if you need it. These are often run:
- at lunchtimes
- after school.
Ask your teacher or tutor if any exist or about setting one up.
