Volunteering strategy

The Youth Volunteering strategy is a visionary strategy supporting the development of the quantity, quality and diversity of youth volunteering provision in Essex.

Definition of a volunteer - Young people aged 13 - 25 who give up their free time willingly to help their local community. Involved with activities of their own choice, which support community need as well as personal aims and aspirations.

‘Base Voice’ comprises of young people from Mark Hall School’s Behaviour Support Unit in Harlow, who are working in partnership with Essex County Council, Involvement Team. They meet regularly to have input into documents that inform consultations around the Children and Young People’s Plan. The ‘report on outcomes from discussions with children and young people in Essex’ and the quick- read summary reflect views captured during discussions with children and young people during January and February 2010.
